Mail call! The music of Gerty Farish and the artwork of Amy Jean Porter hold a very special place in my heart. My head imploded when I found out two of my favorite creators are married doing it and stuff.

I sent them a box full of drawings and weird grocery lists to show my appreciation and one fine day this treasure chest showed up on my front door with kickass originals and prints of Amy Jean Porter’s work and some work from Gerty Farish I thought for sure was just online rumors.

There were two split 45′s featuring Gerty Farish & The Pissed Officers whose sleeve turned into a Punk Rocket to Save the Ants and helped them escape the earth. Instruction #2 said “Take out stuff and do something with it.” That’s the best.

Gerty Farish – The Friendliest Dog in the World

There were also two Best Fwends / Gerty Farish “Hospital Party” cassettes and the awesome awesome Gerty Farish Means Lots of Treble CD. Fuck!

Best Fwends – Dream Off

Amy Jean Porter gave so much awesome work. She recently collaborated with poet Matthea Harvey in the book Of Lamb. Check it out!

I have nothing but good things to say about every artist involved with this treasure chest post. Get out there and make something dummy!!!

huntermadeit : we did it!!!
We did it!!! In less than 4 days we raised the $1000 necessary to make Let’s Draw Underwater happen. It’s really GOING TO HAPPEN!!! You guys are too fucking awesome. THANK YOU!

We don’t have to stop yet!

Any funding received past the $1000 will be used to make this project even more awesome. My friends documenting the trip above and below water planned on paying their own way to come along and help out so let’s help THEM get their asses out there! Perhaps I can scuba dive for one day of the trip to draw in deeper waters or install an entire interactive aquarium at my first show…Let’s do it!

All the rewards are still up for grabs so KEEP SHARING & KEEP SPREADING THE WORD!

huntermadeit : swings 4sure4real

Remember this? Recently my roommate Reuben and I won a $1000 grant to continue installing swings around our community.

A few excerpts from the local paper:

“Peter Kageyama, the first of the 10/100/1000 judges to champion Swings, was, um, swung by its playfulness. “Play is an essential part of healthy relationships,” he says, echoing a primary theme in his new book about the love of cities, “It is also an essential part of a healthy relationship with your city.”

“The irrepressible Reuben Pressman and his mysterious one-named roommate Hunter (well, not mysterious to me, but Hunter prefers to go by only one name, like Cher) brought one of their already-trademark red swings to the event. If we’d had a ladder handy I have no doubt they would have tied one up to the rafters and got the whole party swinging. (We may get our own swing yet; stop by our offices someday to see.)”

We’re pumped 4sure4real no doubt~ none no doubt~ to hit our lovely hometown hard with some more swings. More to come on \\**~awL thaT**~// l8r.

January 18, 2010

I took the liberty of being a 19 year old and rest among the mangroves with a puma all day yesterday instead of updating on what crazy shit happened on Day Three of Surf Expo 2010.

No crazy shit happened on Day Three.

Why do I keep capitalizing Day Three? I drew and etchasketched and made friends and laughed and cried and conducted super secret…things… that I will speak of later.

board : huntermadeit

I painted this rather quickly for Get A Board. If any of my closer friends out there are wondering why the guitar isn’t in the video interview, it’s because “hugfuck the world” is not allowed to be painted on raffle-guitars. Now you know. Don’t do it!

hands up! : huntermadeit

This is roughly how I feel after the weekend. I sold some pieces, traded some art, met great people, drank a lot of Ovaltine, and got a lot of inspirational texts from Mum.

I’ll be photographing all the new work this week so you can get up close and personal (really awkwardly intimate hopefully), so be on the lookout like a Galago playing road trip bingo.

GALAGOOOOOOOO MILKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

January 15, 2010

Day two at the Surf Expo was just as crazy. I stayed in my booth most of the day drawing shit while a lot of really awesome people gravitated in and laughed and scoffed and smiled and frowned and cried and all of that. No pictures for today, we left the camera back in the hotel like casual cats. I did have my sketchbook out with a sign that said “Say something vulgar!” Starting with my favorite, here are a few things that people wrote to me. I love them.

“You worthless fuckstain I hate your stupid gape face and hope to sweet-fuck you get raped and die by your friends.”

“Fuck you!”

“Fuck that!”

“Fuck. Shit. Fuck. Goddamn. Does (your) work mean anything? Fuck.”

“Who gives a fuck? <3"

"You're fucking around...wait, your fucking around is pretty damn good.”

As you can see there were positive vibes felt by all.

I send deep thanks to all the people who showed up in my life today with an open mind and offers of opportunity. More on that later. Hopefully we’ll remember the camera tomorrow and getchawl wise to what happens on the final day.

Goodnight!

January 14, 2010

Holy shit holy shit holy shit holy shit. Today was rather intense. Who am I kidding, it was fucking crazy! I met so many fantastic people, there was non-stop action all over the place, and just a lot of plain good vibes. Welcome to my booth suckas!

I was selected to paint a Gibson acoustic guitar to be raffled off by the super cool heads at Get A Board Foundation! Check them out, they’re out there makin’ change and lending hands.

hugfuckguitar : huntermadeit

Hugfuck the world.

I spent most of the day painting it and hanging out at their booth while my sister and girlfriend hung out in my booth like secret underground fox troopers answering questions and giving out creepy stickers.

stacked : huntermadeit

They did some cool shit with the stickers on the floor in front of us to snag attention and make people feel awkward (a good, warm awkward) for stepping on hundreds of seemingly ignorant faces. A spiral, a snail, a happy triangle with arms, and an interactive hopscotch zone were some of the arrangements. I think tomorrow they said a whale is in store. Well fuck yes.

Simply.

Check back tomorrow to see what happens; I need sleep like plants need sun!

January 6, 2010

Today marks ONE WEEK until my little Surf Expo show. Or at least one week until I have to set up my little booth. 100 square feet of fuck yeah.

I played in the snow over break.

Here Today.
Gone Tomorrow.

My sister got me a pocket trumpet for Christmas. Cool. As. Shit.

I painted my MIDI keyboard solid white with a hot pink volume button like I want it.

And I owe you guys some ambiguous shots while I prep and work and bleed and sweat and cry and laugh and pretend to know what the fuck I’m doing for Surf Expo.
